Laura Linney was one of the most renowned American actors of recent times. Her powerful and vulnerable roles have earned her a cult name. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but she was raised as an all-only child by a single mom and nurse. During the summers and with her father, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Her first stage experience was initially through Brown University then at Juilliard School. After graduating from Brown University she made her Broadway debut in the following year. In the space of two years from the time, her debut film was released and the following year, her debut on television. Since then, she's been in numerous films as well as TV and stage productions. Her nominations include three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her professional career. However, despite all the nominations and awards, her enthusiasm for theater is still there in her, and she continues to perform both in the stage and on screen.
